The YSR Congress Party has accused the Andhra Pradesh government of double standards in land pooling exercise underway in the CRDA region near Vijayawada and demanded that the Government should refrain from forcible snatching of land belonging to poor farmers and harming their livelihood options.

“While there were rallies and protests against the forcible land pooling going on in CRDA on one hand, the holdings of TDP leaders in the CRDA limits are intact,” party spokesperson Vasireddy Padma said.

Farmers are being threatened that they would be implicated in cases with officials going after those having small land holdings on excuse of violations in encroachments etc. However, the TDP Ministers, MPs, MLAs and other leaders who have either purchased or have larger holdings in the same region are untouched and the CRDA officials or Police have never bothered to go any where near them or their holdings, she said.

Alleging that all such acts were being enacted in the full support and knowledge of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, she said and displayed video clippings of farmers, rallies and a woman expressing her ire against the CRDA officials and land pooling and vehemently opposing giving up her land.

“The mood of the area is against the land acquisition and if TDP government continues its coercive methods, we will be with the farmers in the fight for justice. Government should concede to their demands, pacify them and solve the issue amicably instead of misusing official machinery,” she said.
