Srikakulam: Communist Party of India (CPI) leaders warned that democracy would be in peril if the Central and State governments act according to the diktats of the corporate sector. Addressing the district CPI general body meeting here on Tuesday, CPI Executive Council member Satyanarayana said that the Central and State governments were implementing faulty policies favouring the rich industrialists, thus hurting the interests of the working class in the country.

In his speech, state CPI secretary and MLC P J Chandrasekhar said that it was unfortunate that AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu met corporate bigwigs several times during the last eight months and held discussions with them. Even the government was issuing several G.O.s favouring the corporate sector and the unorganised sector would suffer in the long run, he lamented. Chandrasekhar warned that they would wage a struggle against the anti-workers’ policies favouring the MNCs by uniting all the nine political parties, he said.
