Global schools for 3 cities in Andhra Pradesh In the first phase of setting up international schools in Andhra Pradesh, the AP government has chosen Nellore over Guntur and Vijayawada.

In the first phase of setting up international schools in Andhra Pradesh, the AP government has chosen Nellore over Guntur and Vijayawada.


Other cities also to be shortlisted are Tirupati and Visakhapatnam for setting up global schools under a Public-Private Partnership. For the international schools, 15 to 20 acres have been allotted by the Government and the schools will not only be for children of migrates, but also for ‘high net-worth individuals’.


The curriculum will include Cambridge International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE), International Baccalaureate (IB) or other international curriculum.


Due to the presence of Sri City, Shar and the Krishnapatnam Port, the Infrastructure Corporation of Andhra Pradesh stated that with Nellore being the fifth most populous city in Andhra Pradesh and also is connected with the Guntur-Vijayawada capital region. An integrated business city, Sri City is also being developed in the district.


The chosen cities include many high points for the international schools to be set up – Nellore having Satish Dhawan Space Centre at Sriharikota, Tirupati, an important religious destination and the largest town in Chittor district and Visakhapatnam is a business and commercial hub.
