Goods train derails; services disrupted
A goods train derailed just one km away from the Vizianagaram railway station on Saturday. The mishap occurred when the goods train was heading for Raigadh from Visakhapatnam carrying crude oil. While one of the bogies overturned, another one got derailed
Vizianagaram: A goods train derailed just one km away from the Vizianagaram railway station on Saturday. The mishap occurred when the goods train was heading for Raigadh from Visakhapatnam carrying crude oil. While one of the bogies overturned, another one got derailed. As a result, all the trains from Raigadh to Vizianagaram were being diverted on the single track and all the trains coming here were running behind schedule.
According to the Railway officials, the heavy rains which lashed the town on Friday might have led to the train accident. Around 250 railway employees under the supervision of Additional Divisional Railway Manager Madan Mohan worked during the entire Friday night and removed the bogie which overturned with the help of a special crane brought from Visakhapatnam.
