Participating in International Yoga Day programme at a convention hall here on Sunday, the Chief Minister said yoga has been a part of Indian life and an ancient gift. He praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his success in explaining the importance of yoga in United Nations Organisation conference and making the world to observe International Yoga Day.

Naidu said India has a rich family system and people should adopt yoga to come out of the present day stress and to achieve success in their life. When people of the State are healthy, the State would prosper on all fronts, including creation of wealth.

Describing yoga as a maha sankalpam (a great will), the Chief Minister said in the present day world where technology dominates, only yoga can bring happiness and stress-free life for people.

The CM announced sanction of Rs 25 crore for promoting yoga in the State and said it would be made as part of health department. Quoting Gandhiji and NTR, he said that they were known for discipline and he learnt discipline from NTR.

The CM also practised yoga for half-an-hour along with NCC cadets and administered a yoga pledge. Yoga guru Ramalingeswara Rao guided the people in practising yoga. Later, the Chief Minister released a book Vijeta Chandrababu written by a city-based psychologist TS Rao.

Ministers Devineni Umamaheswara Rao, K Atchannaidu, K Ravindra, R Kishorebabu, MPs Kesineni Srinivas, Konakalla Narayana, MLAs, Mayor Koneru Sridhar and other leaders also practised yoga on the dais along with the chief minister.
