Hyderabad: The inordinate delay in division of High Court between Hyderabad and Andhra Pradesh is set to rock the monsoon session of Parliament. The Telangana Rashtra Samithi, with strength of 11 MPs, has decided to stall proceedings from day one. According to TRS MP from Chevella Konda Vishweshwar Reddy, TRS would not budge come what may.
“We would storm into podium to register our protest,” he said. TRS would not withdraw its stir until Prime Minister came up with a concrete statement, he said. When asked whether TRS would like to seek support of other national and regional parties on this issue, he replied in affirmative. During the previous session itself most parties expressed their surprise over the delay.
“We are hopeful that other state MPs would rally behind us,” the MP said. Further, he said that TRS MPs would seek an appointment with Chief Justice of Supreme Court. Blaming the TDP-BJP combine for most of the problems being faced by the Telangana Government, Nizamabad MP Kavitha said that Telangana State has been facing several problems due to the inordinate delay in division of the High Court.
She was speaking to media on the sidelines of TNGOs Round Table conference here on Monday. On the other hand the T-TDP MPs said they would raise the issue farmers’ suicides and revival of sick industries during the monsoon session. The party’s Rajya Sabha MP G Ram Mohan Rao said that the major worrying factor in the Telangana after the bifurcation of the State was the suicides committed by the distressed farmers.
The official statistics on farmers’ suicides, released by the National Crime Record Bureau (NCRB), said that Telangana was one of the first five States in the country where farming community was in crisis due to debt trap and frequent natural calamities.
He said the party would represent to the Prime Minister requesting him to announce package for the revival of the Centre-owned Ramagundam Fertilizers, Cement Corporation of India, AP Rayon and Sirpur Kagaznagar Paper Mills.
Thousands of people lost their jobs after the closure of these industries. Pending irrigation projects and the projects announced for Telangana State after the division of the State would also be raised during the session, Ram Mohan Rao said. The Congress MPs from the State will be part of the all-out attack over various scams of the ruling NDA government.
Speaking to The Hans India, MP Gutta Sukhender Reddy said that unlike regional parties, the Congress MPs from Telangana would take up national issues in tune with the party line. “While regional parties have different priorities, we shall be focusing mainly on recent scams and land issues by the Narendra Modi-led government,” he said.
Sukhender Reddy said that the issue of farmers’ suicides was a national phenomenon hence even the issue of farmers’ death in Telangana would be amongst the top subjects, which would be taken up by the party in Parliament.
However, the MPs from Andhra Pradesh said that they would not be part of stalling of proceedings of the Lok Sabha but would put pressure on the Centre and see that it fulfils the assurances given in the AP State Reorganisation Act.
