In a major blow to Andhra Pradesh Union minister of state for planning, Rao Inderjit Singh announced that special category status would not be granted to any state in the country.


Speaking at the Lok Sabha, Rao Inderjit Singh said that special status for states cannot be granted as the 14th Finance Commission was against it. However, only special development packages will be considered.

This has come as a shock to YSR Congress Party as its chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy who is gearing up to stage a dharna in New Delhi on August 10 demanding special status to AP.

The AP Government has been facing criticism for its silence on the issue. Now, with the Centre saying no special tag to AP, the TDP leaders have reportedly decided to go aggressive in the Parliament and storm the sessions.
