Ongole: State Roads and Transport Minister Siddha Raghava Rao announced that his department was going to permit the showrooms to issue permanent registrations to the newly bought vehicles from them. He visited the local RTO office on Tuesday at Ongole. Speaking on the occasion, he said the department was going to introduce latest technology in the office administration very soon.

The Transport Minister said that government fixed Rs 2,200 crore income as target for his department. He said, “Last year the transport department earned Rs 1, 720 crores as revenue. We want to increase it in this financial year to Rs 2, 200 crore. We are going to setup an integrated driving training centre at Darsi with Rs 20 crore from the central government in two months.

Later we would setup the same type of training centres in Vijayawada and Chittor, which can train about 8, 000 persons each.” Raghava Rao asserted that his department is planning to make the roads zero accident zones in near future. For this, the RTO officials and MVI take up a week long special drive every month to educate drivers, he informed. He advised the two wheeler users to use helmets for their safety and request the public to cooperate with the administration.
