Eluru: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu was all in praise for the central government in general and the Union Minister for Urban Development M Venkaiah Naidu in particular, on Thursday. He called Venkaiah as ‘Abhimanyu’ who fought against the UPA government during the course of bifurcation of State to get justice done for Andhra Pradesh.

He thanked the central government for sanctioning a total of Rs 1, 500 crore for the Capital. Addressing the gathering on the occasion of laying of foundation stone for National Institute of Technology (NIT), Naidu said that despite pressure from various quarters to shift the location of NIT from Tadepalligudem, he decided to have it here since he owes a lot to the people of West and East Godavari districts as they reposed faith in TDP and BJP in general elections.


He said in return and as per the desire of the endowments minister P Manikyala Rao who played significant role in getting the land of Airfields for NIT, the government has decided to set up a degree college in about 50 acres of land. CM assured that the government will construct houses free of cost to the poor who are being dislocated from the airfield area.


He announced that the underground drainage system will be provided for Tadepalligudem. Responding to a request made by the Union Minister for HRD Smriti Irani, Naidu said, toilets will be constructed in all the Government schools in the state and their maintenance will be handed over to DWCRA groups.


He also promised the efforts for success of insurance schemes announced by Prime Minister. The Narsapuram MP Gokaraju Gangaraju announced to pay premium of Pradhana Mantri suraksha yojana for one lakh people. The Union Minister Sujana Chowdary, State Ministers Ganta Srinvasa Rao, P Sujatha, P Manikyala Rao, Higher Education Commissioner B Udayalakshmi spoke on the occasion.


Foundation stone laid for NIT

Eluru: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu laid foundation Stone for the construction of the prestigious National Institute of Technology (NIT) and unveiled the pylon at Tadepalligudem in West Godavari district on Thursday. The premier institution would be built on a 172.80 acres airstrip on the outskirts of Tadepalligudem at a cost of Rs 600 crore.


Union Minister for Human Resources Development Smriti Irani, Union Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu, Union Minister of State for Science and Technology Y Sujana Chowdary, Deputy Chief Minister Nimmakayala China Rajappa, Ministers Ganta Srinivasa Rao, Pydikondala Manikyala Rao, Ch Ayyannapatrudu, Peethala Sujatha, MPs C M Ramesh, Gokraju Gangaraju, Maganti Venkates wara Rao, Thota Seetharamalakshmi participated in the programme.


Earlier, Dwaraka Tirumala Devasthanam head priest accorded a warm welcome to the dignitaries.
