Hyderabad: The Andhra Pradesh government, which has initiated implementation of the Land Acquisition Act, has taken up Operation Pacify Pavan Kalyan. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu told his party men on Saturday that he would personally talk to Pavan on the issue to explain as to why the government had to resort to use the Land Acquisition Act to acquire 2,200 acres.

It may be recalled that of late there has been a war of words between Pavan and the TDP leaders over this issue. Pavan has been tweeting regularly opposing any move to take land using the Land Acquisition Act in the Seed Capital area. Meanwhile, Pavan is likely to meet the farmers of villages where the Act is being enforced on Sunday.

The TDP sources said that the date for the meeting between Naidu and Pavan has not yet been decided but it would certainly take place before Naidu goes to New Delhi on August 25. According to sources, Naidu will present to the Jana Sena chief the details of the master plan of the SCA, Capital City Area (CCA) and the CRDA master plans and the government’s proposed development plan and how certain some patches of land were coming in the way of implementing the master plan.

Naidu will also explain the steps the Municipal Administration and Urban Development had worked out to provide a package which was much more than what farmers were getting under the Land Pooling Scheme (LPS). Naidu will tell Pawan that the government had notified the land acquisition only after exploring and exhausting all other options. He will also tell Pavan about the observations of the High Court on the issue.

Speaking to The Hans India, a senior minister said, “The government has information that some of the farmers in Tulluru, Mangalagiri and Amaravati have been demanding three times more than what has been offered to farmers who had volunteered to give the land under land pooling on the grounds citing that their lands yield three crops and so they should be paid more.

” The government cannot open the Pandora’s Box by conceding their demand since the government had already disbursed annuity to the farmers in other villages. The government cannot afford to take such a risk with just two months left for laying the foundation stone.
