According to reports, the incident took place at a government hospital of the district in the late night when the infant was sleeping on a bed.
The rats bit the helpless baby all over the body. The Baby's mother who saw the kid battling the rats rushed to his rescue. By the time the rats were shooed away, the kid was seriously injured. The boy was taken to the doctors but died while undergoing treatment.
The baby's parents Chaavali Nag and Lakshmi belong to Krishna Lanka village in Vijayawada. Lakshmi gave birth to a baby boy on August 17 and they came to the Guntur government hospital as the child's health was not good.
The parents of the kid blamed the hospital authorities for their negligence.
