Hyderabad: Violating the assembly rules, the YSRCP members on Wednesday stormed into the well of the House with photos of former Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy and shouted slogans protesting against the removal of the portrait of YSR from the assembly lounge.

The Speaker Kodela Sivaprasada Rao pulled up the members for their “unruly behaviour” and asked them to withdraw the photos and allow the House to take up the question hour. “What you are doing is against the rules. This has become a daily habit for you people. Please take back the photos,” he said. But the members continued with their protest.

The Speaker expressing his displeasure over the violation of all rules and practices of the House, said that he respects their concern and regard for their leader but the practice is that only the photos of former Speakers are displayed in the Assembly's lounge. He said, “The YSRCP and even Rajya Sabha member KVP Ramachandra Rao wrote to me stating that removal of YSR photo from the House had lowered the image of the Assembly.

He said the decision of installing a portrait has to be either taken by the Assembly committee or by a resolution of the House. In this case neither of the procedure was followed,” He said the Assembly committee hall was allotted to Telangana in the bifurcation of the State. He said a decision on the issue would be taken after the Assembly committee discusses the issue.
