Rains block road from Nellore to Tirupati and Chennai, people stranded

Transportation has become a major issue in AP on Wednesday as the heavy rains continued to hamper the efforts of the highways authorities in Nellore district as the National Highway is yet to be restored and people were left stranded in railway stations, bus stops, etc.

While vehicles were stuck on the roads along the highway in the district that were bound for Chennai and Tirupati, others who chose the Ongole and Kadapa alternative routes from Nellore to Tirupati and Chennai also faced the same fate with the roads being inundated.
With 22 trains getting cancelled, one track each to Renigunta and Chennai was restored on Tuesday. Devotees to Sabarimala have been waiting for the restoration of the National Highway at Nellore since Monday.
