Vaikunta Ekadasi arrangements reviewed

Tirumala: TTD EO D Sambasiva Rao on Friday reviewed the arrangements for Vaikunta Ekadasi and Vaikunta Dwadasi here along with Tirumala JEO KS Sreenivasa Raju and CVSO D Nagendra Kumar and HoDs of various departments.

In an effort to cope with the heavy rush expected on Vaikunta Ekadasi (December 21), the TTD decided to stop issuing of Divya darshan tokens from midnight of December 18 to till midnight of December 22 and also VQC re-entry access cards from 12 noon of December 19 till midnight of December 22. Sarva darshan pilgrims will be allowed in compartments for Vaikunta Ekasdasi from 10 am onwards on December 20.

Temporary toilets have been set up in Narayanagiri Gardens in view of pilgrim influx while Rs 300 darshan ticket holders will be allowed for darshan on Vaikunta Dwadasi day (December 22) during their allotted time slot from 1 pm to 9 pm on that day.

Continuous supply of food will be made in Annaprasadam complex from December 20 till midnight of December 21. On December 22, food serving begins in the morning in Annaprasadam complex.

Besides, arrangements were made for distribution of 50,000 butter milk packets to pilgrims waiting in queue lines on December 20 and another 50,000 on December 21 and continuous supply of food in queue lines on December 21 and 22.

Others measures taken up by TTD include cancellation of advance booking of rooms, no acceptance of recommendation letters and no special privileges for donors. The tonsuring centres will function round-the-clock while the ghat roads will also be kept opened 24 hours on those two days.
