Guntur: YSRCP spokesman Ambati Rambabu took a dig at the government for their brutal treatment of Anganwadi workers, who had come to the Chief Minister's camp office in Vijayawada, to demand payment of their enhanced wages.
Addressing a press conference at the party office here on Friday, Rambabu flayed the police for their highhanded behaviour towards women who thronged the camp office to demonstrate in front of it.
He said the Cabinet Sub-committee had already recommended an increase in wages which was approved by the government.
Despite an assurance no GO was issued prompting the Anganwadi workers to demonstrate. The government on Friday made an announcement that they would pay the increased wages in the next budget.
He demanded that a GO should be issued immediately to give legality to their announcement. He asked the government to pay arrears with effect from September 2015.
The YSRCP leader accused the government of using the police to suppress the people's agitations and opposition party movements.
Commenting on the Chicago State University announcing a doctorate for the Chief Minister, he said that the doctorate was given by Chicago State University which was ranked 1,164th out of the 1,066 universities in the US.
He said that the doctorate was not a prestigious one as the Central Chicago University ranked as one of the top five had not given the doctorate. He said in the present context the doctorate had no sanctity, he maintained.
