The state government is planning to take possession of another 50,000 acres of land from farmers through land pooling or land acquisition in addition to the 33,000 acres handed over by the farmers under land pooling, alleged CPI-M Capital Region Committee convener Ch Babu Rao.

Speaking to media persons here on Monday, the CPM leader said that the government was planning to acquire 7,700 acres of land for outer ring road, 7,000 acres for green field airport, 1,700 acres for inner ring road and 1,000 acres for Metro Rail project. In addition, the state government was planning to take away lands of the poor in the name of logistic hub, tourism hub, new railway stations, cultural and heritage sites. The CPM leader alleged that the state government was planning to take away the lands of poor on one pretext or other and hand over them to corporate companies. He said that the TDP government had been taking unilateral decisions. He said the government had failed to start the development works in the land handed over by farmers and again planning to take some more land. He said that the government also failed to allot plots to farmers who handed over their lands under land pooling.

He alleged that the government had been weakening the local bodies by taking decisions on its own. The government had no right to take decisions on green field airport and outer ring road without receiving master plan of Amaravati capital. He said a large number of farmers were getting displaced due to the hasty decisions of the government.
