Visakhapatnam: One person was killed and four received injuries when a travel bus went out of control near Rythu Bazaar in Nrasimhanagar here on Sunday.
The injured were rushed to the hospital where their condition was said to be out of danger. The vehicle driver is absconding and the police launched a search for him. Being Sunday morning, the Rythu Bazaar was crowded with people who came in large numbers to purchase vegetables. A bus belonging to Aditya Tours and Travels went out of control and ran into the crowd killing Appanna (45) on the spot. Appanna was coming out of Rythu Bazaar. The bus further knocked down four others and rammed into two cars and crushed two motorcycles. The bus came to a halt after grinding the vehicles.
The Fourth Town police rushed to the spot but the driver had escaped by then. “Preliminary information gathered from the locals suggests that the bus went out of control due to suspected brake failure. We will examine the bus and its documents and arrest the driver,” said Fourth Town Circle Inspector NV Prabhakar.
The body of the deceased was handed over to the family members after post-mortem examination.
