Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh government signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Japan’s Toyama Prefecture. The representatives of the State government and Toyama Prefecture signed a MoU in the presence of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Governor of Toyama Prefecture Takakazu Ishii at the Chief Minister’s camp office here on Monday.

A 19-member delegation led by Takakazu Ishii met the Chief Minister where the latter briefed them about Amaravati plans and the government’s initiatives to develop the State after bifurcation. The Toyama Prefecture Governor congratulated the Chief Minister for taking the State on the path of development with global support.

He too extended support from his province for the development of the State and asserted that the MoU would help in the development of the State and mutual exchange of business. The MoU helps the two governments to work in cooperation in the fields of economics, pharmaceutical industry, culture, tourism and academics.

The MoU would come into force in the next three months, from when the two governments would start working on the accepted collaboration. The MoU would be in force for the next three years and the two governments would form working groups in both Andhra Pradesh and Toyama Prefecture.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that the MoU would bring both AP and Toyama Prefecture together in the fields of technology and manufacturing. He said that the industrialists from Toyama Prefecture were present in over 71 countries across the world with quality products and manufacturing. He requested the Toyama Prefecture to invest in the pharmaceutical manufacturing in the State.

He said that State has two national corridors, Chennai-Visakhapatnam and Chennai-Bengaluru that would help rapid development of the State and would be of great support for the global investment. Naidu also requested the Toyama Prefecture investors to extend their support in the field of technology and education and work for the exchange of knowledge between the two governments.

Assembly Speaker Dr Kodela Sivaprasada Rao, Ministers Yanamala Ramakrishnudu, Prathipati Pulla Rao and Dr P Narayana, State government’s representative in Delhi, Kambhampati Ramamohana Rao, State government media advisor, Dr Parakala Prabhakar, several senior officers from the State government were present during Toyama Prefecture delegation in the city. The delegation also visited Amaravati area, the proposed capital and interacted with the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) officials on the capital plans.
