Allagadda (Kurnool): Paruveta Utsavam (mock hunting festival) of Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple would be held at Ahobilam from January 16. Temple Executive Officer M Thimma Naidu told the newsmen here on Thursday that the idol of Lord Jwala Narasimha Swamy would be brought to lower Ahobilam from upper Ahobilam temple in a palanquin on Bhogi day. Special pujas would be performed to the processional deity to mark Makar Sankranti. Later, the Lord would be taken out in a palanquin for Paruveta. Chenchu tribesmen armed with bow and arrows would be participating in the Paruveta Utsavam.

Cultural programmes would also be held all along the procession. The deity would return to Ahobilam shrine on March 1 after covering 33 villages in Allagadda, Rudravaram and Uyyalawada mandals in 44 days marking the conclusion of Paruveta Utsavam. Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Devasthanam would make elaborate arrangements to ensure the smooth conduct of the annual event, the EO added.
