Visakhapatnam: Ahead of the Partnership Summit, which would begin at Visakhapatnam on January 10, the Andhra Pradesh government has received confirmation from 30 companies to sign MoUs worth Rs 650 crore in the field of Information Technology. These companies propose to set up their units in Vizag and Tirupati.

“The new companies all put together would generate nearly 21,000 jobs in a couple of years,” said sources in the IT&EC department. Several other companies particularly in IT and Electronic segments which are engaged in both manufacturing and other verticals are showing interest, the sources told The Hans India.

The companies which would be signing the MoUs are Dallas Technologies, a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV), consisting of eight companies from the US. They want to establish an IT company on Hill No 2 of Madhurawada in Visakhapatnam. The State government has allocated two acres of land to the SPV.

The Dallas Technologies is reportedly planning to construct an eight floor building in the allocated land. All the eight companies forming the SPVs would occupy each floor to establish their units. These companies would be investing Rs 250 crore which would generate initially 2,000 jobs, the sources added.

In addition to this, three more companies from the US and a few from other places like Bangalore, National Capital Region (NCR) of Delhi, Chennai and other places have come forward to invest in IT&EC segments.

The State government has also roped in several other big names in the IT and Manufacturing companies to take part in the forthcoming Partnership Summit. Similarly, the government has earmarked 120 acres to establish Sri Venkateshwara Cell Phone Manufacturing Cluster, opposite the Renigunta Airport near Tirupati.

Most of the cell phone manufacturing units would be located in this Electronic Manufacturing Cluster (EMC). The Spice Mobiles is the latest one to have agreed to set up a company with Rs 100 crore. With this, the total number of cell manufacturing companies has gone up to five, and few more are in the process of negotiating with the State government, the sources said.
