Tirupati: The two-day inter-collegiate cultural youth festival took off on a colourful note at Sri Venkateswara University (SVU) here on Tuesday.

Speaking after the inauguration of the youth festival, SVU Vice-Chancellor A Damodaram said that the SVU has got the credit of organising the university-level youth festival for the past 15 years consecutively.

Such cultural festival would help unearth the talents of the students, he said stressing on promoting extra-curricular activities for the students to ensure their mental and physical soundness.

SVU Registrar M Devarajulu said that about 300 students from 20 colleges affiliated to the university are participating in the
two-day youth festival.

As part of the youth festival, 24 events including musical, dance, literary, theatre and fine arts would be conducted. Prizes will be given at the valedictory on Wednesday to the winners of various competitions, he added.

Director of Students Welfare and Cultural Affairs BV Muralidhar, Coordinator K Venkataramana and other university staff were present.
