Vijayawada: The CPI State Committee here on Thursday organised a commemorative meeting for veteran leader AB Bardhan who passed away at New Delhi on January 2. CPI national General Secretary Suravaram Sudhakhar Reddy garlanded the portrait of the communist leader at the meet held at Dasari Nagabhushan Rao Bhavan.

Speaking on the occasion, Sudhakar Reddy said that Bardhan was an ideal example of a communist struggle that lasted seven-and-a-half decades. He was a leader who set aside his life for the Communist Party and for the democratic forces.
Reddy also recalled the services rendered by the great leader in fighting against the communal forces, since he joined AISF in Nagapur during 1940. The role played by the veteran leader in strengthening the Left-secular forces across the country was unforgettable, he said.

YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) MLC Ummareddy Venkateswarlu, TDP MLA Gadde Ramamohan, CPM State Secretary P Madhu, CPI State Secretary K Rama Krishna and the Congress leaders also spoke on the occasion.
