Removal of encroachments only after rehabilitation: Narayana
Municipal Administration Minister P Narayana said that they would continue clearing of encroachments on canals in the city only after making alternative arrangements for the displaced. Speaking to the media here on Friday, Narayana said that district administration had estimated people living in 5,000 houses have to be shifted, who are residing on these canals.

The Minister said that the Housing department would construct houses for displaced within 6 months by using latest technology. Narayana said that the District Collector has taken measures to identify suitable land site for constructing houses for displaced people. He reiterated that they would not shift the people from the encroachments on canals all of a sudden.
“They would be shifted only after allocating houses and appealed to people not to get panic on hearing rumours. Because of floods in Chennai city, Municipal Minister said many industrialists and entrepreneurs were considering starting units in the district.“Chief Minister has been focusing on industrial growth in Nellore, Renigunta and Sri City areas,” he added.
