AKNU bags runners-up

Rajahmundry: Adikavi Nannaya University men’s team bagged runners-up trophy at All India Inter-University Ball Badminton Championship, Vice-Chancellor of the university Prof M Muthyala Naidu informed here on Saturday.
He handed over cash incentives to the members of the team on the premises of the university.
Speaking to reporters on the occasion, Prof Muthyala Naidu mentioned that the sportsmen of the university had brought the fame to the nine year-old university at the national-level. Stressing the need for the encouragement for the sportsmen, he announced cash prize of Rs 15,000 for the winners, Rs 10,000 runners and Rs 6,000 for the third place winners at individual events at national-level. He also announced cash award of Rs 6,000 for the first place winners, Rs 4,000 for the second place winners and Rs 2,000 for the third place winners for players in team events. He maintained that 10 additional marks would be sanctioned to the students who excelled in sports and added that free admission would be also given in PG courses.
Sports Board Secretary Mr. Satyanrayana, principal of the University Arts College Prof K Ramesh, Deputy Registrar Prof Linga Reddy and Vice-Chancellor and others felicitated the team members and coaches along with Sports Board Secretary.
