Srisailam: The Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA) distributed poultry birds to Chenchus at Sunnipenta on Friday as part of its initiative to augment their family income.

Speaking on the occasion, ITDA Project Officer Y Venkateswarlu said 10 poultry birds were distributed to each Chenchu family under Indira Kranthi Patham.

A sum of Rs 1,000 would be provided to each beneficiary towards cost of rearing poultry birds, he added.

He said that it was proposed to distribute poultry birds to 7,000 Chenchu families in the tribal hamlets of Kurnool, Prakasam and Guntur districts, which come under the purview of Srisailam ITDA project.

The tribals would be encouraged in a big way to take up poultry farming to bring them into the mainstream, he added.
