Nellore: Anam brothers, who have been quiet for some time after joining the Telugu Desam party, are now trying to be dynamic in the party and are planning to show their might at a meet in Vijayawada. Anam Vivekananda Reddy and Ramanarayana Reddy joined the party on Dec 1 at Vijayawada at the camp office of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu.

They were accompanied by party senior leaders from the district Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy, Beeda Ravichandra, former minister Adala Prabhakar Reddy and others. It may be recalled that they were inactive after joining the TDP and now they are organising a public meeting in Vijayawada on January 17 strategically seeking entry into the party for thousands of their followers from various parts of the district.

It was said only a section of activists who were close aides of Anam brothers have been allowed into the party and others were denied entry when they joined the party. So, there has been no such political activity from their group till now. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has recently visited the district in connection with inauguration of a permanent building of the IITTM and laying foundation for the regional centre of the NIMH and he addressed a public meeting organised on the premises of Venkatagiri Rajah’s college in Nellore city.

In fact, the meeting was a failure though the Chief Minister, three Central Ministers and others attended. Half of the venue was unoccupied and very few VIPs and SHG members were present there. Interestingly, the premises is an educational institution managed by the Anam family and they were not present. Minister Narayana, MLC Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy and Beeda Ravichandra took active part in organising the meet.

Rumours spread in the meet that very few leaders were given green signal to join the party along with the two leaders and others have not been allowed. Giving scope for speculations, Anam brothers also did not pass any comments and they simply maintained a low profile till the completion of the Chief Minister’s visit. Now, the stage has been set for showing their might indirectly pointing fingers at the leadership who failed to organise a significant event in the city, according to political observers.

They have arranged a special train from Nellore to Vijayawada and special buses for the people who wish to attend the meet at the Convention Centre in Vijayawada where the Chief Minister, party State president and other dignitaries will be present. “This will be the real beginning of the activities and they will show their political calibre through various activities aiming at proving themselves as the adept leaders in the district who can lead the party on their own. There could be significant changes in the party activities in future too,” said an analyst.
