Mild tremors felt in border villages
Many areas in Varikuntapadu and Udayagiri mandals in Nellore district experienced mild tremors on Wednesday evening. Villagers of Varikuntapadu, Lakshmipuram, Jadadevi, Narrawada, Kadiyampadu and others felt mild tremors that lasted for around five seconds.

Villagers of Varikuntapadu, Lakshmipuram, Jadadevi, Narrawada, Kadiyampadu and others felt mild tremors that lasted for around five seconds. People came out of houses as they heard a big sound and the utensils and other articles shook due to the tremors.
These areas have been experiencing tremors frequently and this was the third tremor reported within a month. Experts say the Gundlakamma Fault in Prakasam district was getting activated. Though it would not be disastrous, people have to be careful on the developments, said Dr K S R Murthy, retired scientist of National Institute of Oceanography, who is an expert in geophysics.
