Kapu Welfare and Development Corporation Chairman Chalamalasetti Ramanujaya says the State government has already released Rs 100 crore so far out of the total Rs 1,000 crore earmarked for the year. Laments that former Chief Ministers Neelam Sanjeeva Reddy, Kasu Brahmananda Reddy, Dr YS Rajasekhar Reddy etc., had never bothered to give a thought to the inclusion of Kapus on BC list.

Rajahmundry: Kapu Welfare and Development Corporation would start disbursing loans to eligible from the last week of January, its Chairman Chalamalasetti Ramanujaya has announced.

Speaking to the media here on Tuesday, he said that they have been touring the State to study the living conditions of Kapu, Balija and Telaga communities.

The Manjunathan Commission, of which he is part, would visit all districts in the State before submitting a report to the State government. The committee, which had already toured nine districts, is mandated to give its opinion on inclusion of Kapus among backward classes and on other related issues.

As for issuing loans, he said the corporation has simplified the application process by accepting community certificates from revenue inspectors instead of insisting them from MROs, white ration cards replacing income certificates among other norms.

Recalling the poll promise made by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, he said the State government had already released Rs 100 crore so far out of the total Rs 1,000 crore earmarked for the year.

In the same breath, he also hit out at previous regimes for ‘neglecting’ the Kapus. Former Chief Ministers Neelam Sanjeeva Reddy, Kasu Brahmananda Reddy, Dr YS Rajasekhar Reddy etc., had never bothered to give a thought to the inclusion of Kapus on BC list, he lamented.
