YSRCP MLA Amjad Bhasha demands that the TDP government to keep its promise of setting up a Urdu university in the district

Kadapa: The Urdu University which was proposed to be set up in Kadapa, where Muslim population is in sizeable number, is now being set up in Kurnool. This move of the TDP government has drawn the ire of the Muslim community in the district.

Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu had proposed to set up a Urdu University in Kadapa and spoke about the same on the floor of the house.

The Chief Minister earlier, had said that the university will help in providing education to 4,54,108 Muslim population in the district.

Speaking to The Hans India, YSRCP MLA Amjad Bhasha accused the TDP government of ignoring the welfare of Muslim community. He said that the TDP government has not fulfilled any poll promise made to the Muslim community. He said that many Urdu students are forced to go to Hyderabad for pursuing higher studies.

If the government sets up the university here, it will provide 10,000 jobs to the unemployed Urdu scholars in the district, he added.

The YSRCP leader reminded that the Chief Minister had earlier promised to set up Urdu University, steel factory, Haj House and uranium factory in Kadapa.

Congress party State general secretary Sattar said that they will launch agitation if the government fails to keep its promise.

Mohamad Sabbir of Rajareddy street, who is pursuing M.Sc. Physics at Osmania University in Hyderabad, lamented that many students in the district have to go to Hyderabad leaving the comfort of their homes for pursuing higher studies.

He said that the setting up the Urdu varsity will not only help the Urdu students to secure jobs but will also help in the overall development of Muslim community.
