Rayachoti police seize brown sugar packets worth Rs 1 crore from the gang

Kadapa: Rayachoti police on Saturday seized Rs 1 crore worth brown sugar packets and arrested five persons involved in smuggling the same to Kuwait. Disclosing the details to media, Kadapa ASP Nageswar Reddy said five persons were arrested by the Rayachoti police.

He said Bhaskar alias Chotu of Rajampet, who presently is in Kuwait, has been operating the smuggling racket in which Mastan of Sundupalle, Khaja and Rahamthulla of Ontimitta, Mohiddhin and Ajub of Kerala were involved.

They had succeeded four times in sending the narcotics’ packets to the Kuwait by using carbon papers wrapped to the brown sugar packets which cannot be detected in the security scanning check at international airports.

These members of nefarious deed targeted the people who went to Kuwait from the region to run their illicit trade. These people have been importing the brown sugar from Afghanistan and in turn supply it to Kuwait.

ASP said investigation is on to nab others involved in the smuggling.
