Vijayawada: Former CBI joint director V V Lakshminarayana on Saturday stressed the need to develop ‘green corridors’ for the speedy transportation of organs to save the lives of people.

He launched Golden Hour project, of the Dr Ramesh Educational Society here on Saturday, and said every patient in an ambulance should be treated as a chief minister and should be given way to reach hospitals at the earliest.

He said traffic policing should be upgraded with modern technology to give hassle free passage to ambulances during emergency. He said toll free numbers should be introduced and necessary messages should be passed on from the central traffic control centre to the traffic police on duty.

Meanwhile, organiser Dr Ramesh Babu said 24,000 deaths are being reported every day in India due to delay in hospitalisation. He stressed the need to bring awareness among people on golden hour importance. He said one in each house should be trained in basic life saving supporting system. He said AP tops in brain strokes and golden hour hospitalisation is important to save the patient.
