Puttaparthi: Dr Manmohan Singh, former Prime Minister, on Tuesday visited Prasanthi Nilayam and paid reverential obeisance at the Maha Samadhi of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba.

He recalled the memories of the Convocation ceremony of SSSIHL that took place in 2010, with the divine blessings of Swami, when he was the chief Guest of the function.

He garlanded the Sathya Sai Samadhi and paid tributes to Baba. He reached Puttaparthi airport along with AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi to participate in the ten-year celebration of launching the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme at Bandlapalle village in the district.

Rahul immediately left for Bandlapalle while Manmohan visited Prasanthi Nilayam. Members of the Sathya Sai Trust Ratnakar, Chakravarthy, Secretary Prasada Rao welcomed the former Prime Minister.

He enquired about the ongoing activities of the trust. He took some rest at Santhi Bhavan before leaving for Bandlapalle at 3 pm.
