Kakinada: East Godavari Kapu Sadbhavana Sangam president Vasireddy Yesu Dasu alleged police harassment. He said that the police detained him at Samalkot for more than an hour on Friday, while he was on his way to Mudragada Padmanabham’s house in Kirlampudi.

Yesu Dasu said that five out of seven occupants of the car were asked to get down and only two were allowed to move and we had to face six more check-posts on route.

“When the issue was reported to senior police officials there was no proper response. We reached Kirlampudi by 9.40 a.m. and couldn’t be present at the beginning of the fast,” he added

Dasu also said that Congress MP from Telangana V Hanumantha Rao was also detained by police at these check-posts despite his stature as elected representative.

“Though we appreciate the security measures of the police, they should not harass the leaders,” Dasu opined.
