Mudragada in a span of last four decades joined various political outfits and even floated his own party. Starting his political career as elected MLA from Prathipadu in East Godavari in 1977 on behalf of Janata Party, Mudragada was elected to AP Assembly in 1983, 1985 on behalf of TDP from the same constituency and served as minister in NTR cabinet.

Later, he floated Telugu Nadu Party and maintained close rapport with late Vangaveeti Mohana Ranga during this period and subsequently joined Congress and served as minister in Dr.M Chenna Reddy cabinet, He floated Kapunadu in 1993 and lost the election for the first time in 1994 on behalf of Congress and moved closer to BJP in 1997 and even attended RSS Sakhas. However, in 2009, he lost again as Congress candidate from Pithapuram assembly constituency in the district and contested as independent from his home constituency Prathipadu and lost.

Considering his growing popularity, rumours were rife that he would be joining YSRCP. When contacted, party Kakinada LS constituency in-charge Chalamalasetty Sunil said that he is not aware about the reported talks with party leadership in this regard.

Former Kakinada Rural MLA, Kurasala Kannababu said that he was not aware of the developments post January 31 meet at Tuni, Similarly, even TDP official spokesperson Gianni Krishna, party MLC Boddu Bhaskara Rama Rao{ who played key role in Mudragada ‘s talks with TD representatives before calling off indefinite fast}.Both said that as of now there is no possibility to rope in Mudragada.

However, the TD state general secretary and Kapu Welfare Corporation, director Yerra Venugopal Rayudu doesn’t rule out the possibility of roping in Mudragada. He said that even though there is no talk in the party inner circles about his admission at the moment, but in near future we cannot rule out the possibility of Muderagada joining TDP, the senior TD leader ascertained.
