AU to streamline academics, says VC

Visakhapatnam: In charge Vice-Chancellor of the Andhra University Prof E A Narayana, who assumed charge on February 4, said his task was cut out and would lay special emphasis on streamlining the academic schedule in both the university and constituent colleges.

Speaking to The Hans India exclusively here on Friday, he said ensuring regular conduct of classes even on Saturdays to complete the syllabus, to hold exams and announce results in time and conduct admissions before private colleges were high on his agenda.

Academic review meeting would be convened every Saturday with college principals and heads of the department to discuss issues relating to the conduct of exams, completion of syllabus, revaluation of answer papers and research works, he added.

He informed that a discussion had been reached after holding consultations with principals and HoDs to hold classes extra classes to compensate the holidays given during NAAC visit and International Fleet Review. He warned principals and HODs against apathy in completing the syllabus in time. A special attention is paid on those students who fail to cope with the academic standards of the university.

“Recently, an Afghanistan student, pursuing an engineering course, discussed about the same with me. I assured him full support from the university to ensure that he finishes his course within four years,” he said, and wanted students to take up their grievances with him.
