Agriculture Minister Prattipati Pulla Rao called upon the Rural Water Supply Department engineers to evolve a centralised monitoring system at the headquarters to strive for optimum utilisation of water resources.

He promised to discuss with the Chief Minister on immediate release of water from Nagarjunasagar Reservoir to meet the drinking water requirements of people in the district. He said that arrangements will be made for release of water from Srisailam to Nagarjunasagar and from there to Prakasham Barrage for supply of water to western delta.

An action plan is being prepared by the Zilla Parishad to effectively tackle drinking water scarcity and filling the village tanks with Nagarjunasagar water apart from reviving the defunct bores.
