Anantapur: District Collector Kona Sasidhar has assured journalists to solve their problems. He asked them to bring government’s minor lapses to his notice for rectification and asked them to relay factual news to people.

He was the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony of the Journalists’ Premier League Cricket Tournament here on Monday. The tournament was held under the aegis of the Andhra Pradesh Union of Working Journalists.

Earlier, union vice-president Ramalinga Reddy highlighted delay in payment of wages to scribes. He urged the authorities to take steps to allot pucca houses to some of the journalists who have been allotted site at Kodimi.

Earlier, the government sanctioned pucca houses to some of the scribes owning site at the village. He also sought house sites and houses to media employees and journalists working in rural areas.

Referring to free education for wards of journalists in private schools, he said some school managements have been harassing journalists children for tuition fee and wanted the District Collector to sort out the issue by taking it up with the DEO and regional inspection officer.

He also sought loans under various government schemes for journalists. As part of the cricket league, matches were held between various media houses at the RDT grounds here.
