Vijayawada: Former minister Vadde Sobhanadreeswara Rao has appealed to Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu to construct a permanent secretariat at Amaravati capital as the Central government is ready to allot funds for capital development.

Speaking to media persons here on Tuesday, the former minister said the Chief Minister should clarify on the proposal of construction of temporary secretariat. He said that the Central government released Rs 1,850 crore for capital development so far and ready to release additional funds.

He said that when the state is facing financial crisis there was no need to spend nearly Rs 200 cr for construction of temporary secretariat.

The former minister opined that the state government could utilize the tourism complex constructed at canal guest house site on Bandar road and Medha towers near airport to set up government offices instead of wasting money on temporary secretariat.

He said there was no need to shift all the employees of secretariat at one time without providing necessary infrastructure in new capital. He said that the government should answer on the usage of Rs 1,850 cr released by Central government for capital development.
