Eluru: The sanitation personnel continued removal of garbage dumped in the Eluru Krishna Canal for the consecutive fifth day on Wednesday. The Municipal Corporation Commissioner, Yarra Sai Srikanth, and Municipal Health Officer V Suryarao monitored the programme in the evening.

The sanitary workers, as part of cleaning programme, have removed the weed and garbage to dump in compost yard at Ponangi. The workers also mixed the oil balls, abate, bytex pesticide to control the larva of the mosquitoes in the stagnated water.

Speaking on the occasion, the Commissioner said that the work would ontinue till the garbage was removed and the canal was cleaned. He directed the sanitary inspectors to impose a fine on the vendors who dump the plastic waste and other waste into the canal.

The officials on spot fined a noodles vendor for throwing the bottles in the canal, even the cleaning work is on. The Health Officer discussed with the hotel owners nearby the canal and suggested them not to dump their waste in the canal.
