Girijans against inclusion of more castes in ST list
Activists of Girijana Vidyarthi Samakhya on Wednesday burnt the effigy of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu in front of the main gate of SK University protesting against the Chief Minister’s decision to include more castes under the ST reservation category.
Anantapur: Activists of Girijana Vidyarthi Samakhya on Wednesday burnt the effigy of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu in front of the main gate of SK University protesting against the Chief Minister’s decision to include more castes under the ST reservation category.
They demanded the Chief Minister to increase the quota for the STs from 6 per cent to 12 per cent, appoint a Dalit as tribal welfare minister and take steps to develop the tribal tandas.
They charged the Chief Minister with fomenting trouble with seeking to include of more castes in the ST list. They threatened to intensify their agitation across the state if the State government were to pursue its anti-Dalit policies.
State president of the Samakhya G Mallikarjuna Naik and others took part in the agitation
programme.
