Vijayawada: Adopting a tough posture, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said that his government under no circumstances would allow the image of brand Amaravati to be spoiled by some “frustrated politicians like the main opposition party.”
- Oppn needs to prove allegations against govt
- Scurrilous writings will not be tolerated
At a press conference, Naidu said that the opposition parties in the state particularly the YSRCP had embarked upon one point programme to cause damage to the image of the government and create hurdles in the development of the truncated state. He said the government will not tolerate this. The news paper which had shown the land of Agrigold which has been attached by the court as the one purchased by my ministers and my son Lokesh have to prove the allegation.
If they fail to do so they will have to face the consequences. The government is exploring all legal options and will to go to court. “Soon you will see what we will do,” he said. Government will not tolerate any newspaper if they indulge in scurrilous writing. If they make allegations, they have to prove it or face action, Naidu said. Replying to spate of questions on the issue, Naidu said the government had acquired a total of 55,000 acres of land under land pooling.
If any private individual buys land outside this area with his hard earned money, how can government prevent it and how can the government be blamed for it,” he asked. On Lokesh owning land in the capital region, Naidu said that the YSRCP was showing the land of Agrigold attached by the court as the one which is owned by Lokesh as well as some ministers.
He said he and his family members have been making their assets public for past six or seven years and had also thrown an open challenge in the past that if anyone proves that he or his family owns assets more than what has been declared, they would not only hand it over to them but will also compensate for the charges incurred in probing the irregularity.
Without directly mentioning the name of YS Jaganmohan Reddy, he said those who were leveling all kinds of accusations should explain how they amassed disproportionate assets and why they had to go to jail. Even the newspaper which carried the baseless news is under attachment. Such people have no moral right to criticise the government, he said.
Naidu said these very people had been causing hurdles from day one in the development of the state. They objected to Amravati as capital region. They incited people under Polavaram and Vamsadhara projects and when they failed in their attempts, they are now trying to create differences between various castes and regions. The government cannot remain a mute spectator to this, Naidu said.
