Hyderabad: The YSR Congress party (YSRCP) staged a walkout twice during the question and answer session on Tuesday in protesting against the State Government for not spending budgetary allocated funds to the SCs and Weavers.

While around Rs. 3,291 cr. was allocated in 2014-15, only Rs. 2,502 cr. was spent till date. Similarly, out of about Rs. 3,000 cr. allocated during 2015-16, the government could spend only Rs. 1,500 cr.

While asking whereabouts of the remaining funds, the YSRCP MLA Anil Kumar alleged that the funds meant for infrastructure and the funds supposed to be released for the SC, were not yet released. The government is yet to constitute the SC Commission in the state, he further added.

Defending the government, the SC and ST Welfare and Empowerment Minister Ravela Kishore Babu said that the delay in spending the remaining amounts was due to non-receipt of the matching grants from the Centre.

Similarly, taking the government to task, the YSRCP chief Y S Jaganmohan Reddy criticised the government for neglecting the handloom industry in the state, the second biggest employment generator.

Denying the same, the BC Welfare and Empowerment, Handlooms and Excise Minister Kollu Ravindra said that the government has spent around Rs. 156 cr. on weaver’s welfare and waived about Rs. 160 cr. of loans benefiting about 25,000 weavers in the State.

Apart from re-launching the Janata Chira and Janata Dhoti schemes, the government is taking steps to strengthen the state-owned APCOB, added Ravindra.
