New Delhi: A five-member bench headed by Supreme Court justice Anil Dave here on Thursday adjourned the NEET case to April 7. As the case was filed before bifurcation the managements association of AP and TS, urged the full bench to allow TS to file its response in writing. It was okayed.

The bench which heard the protracted arguments for and against the common entrance test proposed by the Medical Council of India for admissions into medical colleges on Thursday decided to hear the arguments again on the next date of hearing. It directed the State governments and associations of dental colleges to file their written response by March 31, while the MCI and Central government are asked to file their rejoinders within four days later.

It may be recalled that the Medical Council of India had passed a regulation in 2013 seeking to introduce a National Eligibility Entrance Test for medical seats. This was opposed by several States and associations. The apex court struck down the same later. However, the MCI and the Centre sought a revision.
