Anantapur: The 743rd Penukonda Babayya Swami (Baba Fakruddin) Dargah Urs, which is a symbol of religious tolerance in South India, will begin on March 21. Devotees from New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, besides Kerala, Singapore, Malaysia will throng the dargah.

The dargah is one of the most sacred places of worship in the South. The event will take off with ‘Gandhapu Pooja Mahotsav’ on March 21. Ministers Palle Raghunatha Reddy, Paritala Sunita, MP Nimmala Kishtappa, MLAs Nandamuri Balakrishna, Parthasardhi, Prabhakar Chowdary will participate.

The events to follow include ‘Deeparadhana’(March 22), ‘Fakirla Pradarsana’( March 23), ‘Dulaparugu’ (March 24), Khaja Syed Shah Mastan Hussain Gandham Pooja (March 25), Syed Bidar Shahvali Gandham Pooja (March 26), Dargah Peetadhipathi Tajbaba said here on Saturday.

Sarvamata Sammelan will be organised at 9 pm near the Qawali Mandir during the Gandham Utsav. Swami Chetanand Teertha of Hospet, Navajot Singh of Chandigarh, Ravishankar Guruji of Penukonda, Aditprasad Jain, Pandit Janpriyanath, Shakil Shafi Sab and Qasim Khan will be present.
