Vijayawada: The major student unions AISF, SFI, PDSU and PDSO condemned the attacks of BJP leaders on JNU students union leader Kanhaiya Kumar on his visit to the city on Thursday.

Talking to the media here on Friday, AISF National president Syed Valliullah Khadri alleged that the BJP led NDA government was encouraging the communal forces in the universities across the country to prove the existence of ABVP and Sangh Pariwar forces.

He wondered why the BJP government has tried to interrupt the meeting of Kanhaiya Kumar in the city, though he did not spoke against the country or backed the terrorist Afzal Guru.

Majority of the backward class students in universities were being suppressed by the Vice-Chancellors and by booking false cases and forcing them to leave their studies.

“We are ready to exchange dialogue with the NDA government over the issues prevailing in universities to safeguard the interests of the students,” he said.

The AISF National president also said that measures will be taken by the youth organisations to conduct student Parliament and the victims of all universities will be brought on to a common platform to agitate over the issues.

He made it clear that Kanhaiya Kumar will tour all the major universities across the country for the social justice. He dared the Centre to arrest Vice -Chancellor Appa Rao who was the main accused in the death of Dalit scholar Rohit Vemula. The arrested student leaders at UoH should be released immediately, he demanded.

SFI State secretary Nooru Mohammad, PDUS State president A Ravi Chandra, AISF State general secretary J Viswanath and other leaders were also present at the news conference.
