The ZP Chairperson participated in a meeting in which MPDOs attended at ZP meeting hall here on Saturday.
Addressing the MPDOs, Girvani said that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu gave instructions for all the ZP Chairmen to tackle the drinking water shortage on a priority basis. She said that the State government is expected to release the required funds for all districts very soon. Girvani instructed the MPDOs to submit a report on the prevailing drought conditions in mandals at the earliest. She said that the State government had declared 62 mandals from the total of 66 in the district as drought-affected. She informed MPDOs that the government likely to release Rs 12.43 crore to address drinking water problem in the district.
The ZP chief advised the MPDOs to divert unspent funds for mitigating the drinking water problem in the district. She assured of impressing upon the government for getting more funds to supply drinking water through hired water tankers for 244 drought-hit habitations in the district. She appreciated MPDOs for discharging their duties efficiently.
ZP CEO P Kishore said that the MPDOs should ensure proper functioning of the borewells in villages for supply of drinking water.
Kishore informed MPDOs that District Collector gave instructions to Transco officials not to disconnect power for drinking water schemes if the bills were not cleared.
He directed MPDOs to ensure continuous power supply to water schemes during the summer. He said that all employees working in ZP and MPDO offices should report for duty by 10 am and leave by 5 pm every day as the biometric system would be introduced shortly. ZP Deputy CEO Lakshmi and others were present.
