Hyderabad: Heatwave claimed 45 people, since the onset of summer in the State. While YSR Kadapa district recorded the highest number with 16 people dying of heat stroke, Prakasam district stood second with 11 deaths. Deputy Chief Minister Nimmakayala Chinarajappa, on Thursday, said that reports from all the 13 districts of the State show a sudden spurt in day temperatures, resulting in 45 deaths due to sunstroke.

According to the Dy CM, out of the 13 districts, sunstroke deaths were reported from nine districts. The death toll due to heat wave recorded in different districts was: Srikakulam – 2, Vizinagaram-3, West Godavari – 1, Krishna -2, Prakasam – 11, Chittoor – 3, Anantapur – 4, YSR Kadapa – 16, Kurnool -3.

He cautioned people to take necessary precautions while venturing out as the day temperatures are soaring. He stated that the government has taken series of steps to extend all possible help to the victims of sun stroke and instructed the medical and health department staff to be on high alert, to extend medical help to the victims of the heat wave.

Chinarajappa also appealed to philanthropists and others to come in a big way to establish “Chalivendralu” (water kiosks) to distribute water to the people.
