Amaravati: Over 300 families will lose their houses and 50 farmers lose their vegetable and flower gardens in Undavalli village due to proposed ‘Seed Access Road’, which was announced by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, on Wednesday. Even though, the farmers and house owners have registered their objections with the CRDA, it is alleged that the officials ignored their pleas. Now, the farmers are preparing to file a petition in the court opposing land acquisition.
The proposed Seed Access Road will start from Kankadurga Varadhi and pass through Tadepalli, Undavalli, Penumaka, Venkatapalem, Mandadam and seed capital. B V Reddy, a farmer said that if he gives his land, he will lose livelihood. "80 cents of land is all that I have. I have already filed a petition with the CRDA officials. An acre of land is being sold at Rs 20 crore, if it is near highway, why should I give my valuable land for Seed Access Road,” he questioned and demanded the government to withdraw proposal for road.
Raising the issue of transportation hurdles, K Somi Reddy said, “There are no approach roads for the proposed Seed Access Road. If the road is laid, it will be difficult for farmers to transport agriculture produce from their land.” Echoing BV Reddy, he said that demand for the land comes down, if the government starts acquisition and they will suffer losses. “My hopes will be dashed if the government goes ahead with land acquisition and I will be left with no other option but suicide,” he said.
A few farmers raised the issue of losing turmeric and banana crop. Some even said that the roads can be idened so that the need for Seed Access Road will not arise and are demanding to take their objections into consideration.Speaking to The Hans India, YSRCP MLA A Ramakrishna Reddy said, “I will consult an advocate in Hyderabad to file a petition in the court. With the proposal the farmers will lose their valuable lands due to Seed Access Road and realtors will be benefited.”
