Rajamahendravaram: Prominent people from various fields have been felicitated by the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan marking Sri Durmukhi Ugadi celebrations at Sri Anam Kalakendram in Rajamahendravaram on Friday. Chairman of Costal districts BVB Cherukuwada Sri Ranganatha Raju presided over the programme. Earlier Panchangam for the new Telugu year has been disclosed by Brahmasri Pullela Satyannarayana.
Mahamahopadya and Sastranidhi Viswanatha Gopalakrishna Sastry, prominent architect Datla Buchi Venkatapathi Raju, Mridanga Vidhwanmani Varada Rao Kamalakar Rao, TTD pundit Dr T Ramakrishna Murthy, scholar in music and literature Chebiyyam Venkatamaiah, prominent doctor Movva Radhakrishna Murhty, model family medical expert Dr CVS Sastry, prominent stage artiste and the winner of Nandi award Maddali Janakinath, organic paddy farmer Mummareddy Venkanna and organic horticulture farmer Chilukuri Suri Babu were facilitated by the BVB Chairman. Speaking on the occasion, Sri Ranganatha Raju said that Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan was started with the blessings of stalwarts like Mahatma Gandhi, Sardar Vallabhai Patel, J L Nehru 75 years back to inculcate culture and tradition among students besides education. He informed that there are 115 BVBs in the country along with many branches abroad. He mentioned that it was launched in West Godavari in 1981 with the blessings of late former Prime Minister P V Narasimha Rao, the then Vice Chairman of the BVB. He maintained that a cultural centre would be set up in Rajamahendravaram soon and added that national sports meets would be organised here during 2016-17.
Speaking on the occasion, Mahamahopadhyaya V G Sastry called upon the people for not being complacent in their time which would not do any favour to them.
Suggesting people to face the situation with courage and hard work, he stated that the helping hand of the Almighty would be always with the people who perform their duties with dedication.
