We are aiming at getting additional quota for the Kapus. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu had already requested the Manjunath commission to study the possibility of getting additional quota. The CM would take up the issue with the Centre once the commission submits its report

Vijayawada: Minister for BC Welfare Kollu Ravindra said that people have rejected leaders, who created political unrest in the State in the name of caste.
Speaking to The Hans India here on Wednesday, Ravindra said that the Madiga community had rejected Manda Krishna Madiga, while the BCs have refused to sail with R Krishnaiah. “Kapus would also move away from Mudragada as the government had constituted a commission to study reservations, corporation to provide economic benefits and allocated Rs 1,000 crore to the Kapus,” the Minister asserted.
He claimed that the meeting organised in Vijayawada on April 10 was a failure, which indicated that the Kapus were already moving away from the leader. “Kapu Commission started collecting data and exploring the possibilities of extending BC reservation to the Kapus. The commission headed by retired judge Justice K L Manjunath is slated to submit the report by October this year. The State government would study the report and take up the issue with the National Commission for Backward Classes (NCBC),” he informed.
Commenting on the sharing of reservation, the Minister said that they would not touch existing reservation. “We are aiming at getting additional quota for the Kapus. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu had already requested the Manjunath commission to study the possibility of getting additional quota. The CM would take up the issue with the Centre once the commission submits its report,” he added.
Ravindra showered praises on Kapu Corporation headed by Ch Ramanujaiah and stated that they are delivering on what was promised. “Chandrababu Naidu promised reservations and other benefits to the Kapus and the government had initiated steps to make them a reality. Due to financial constraints there was a delay but we are committed to the cause,” he reiterated.
The Minister claimed that Kapus have understood the government’s commitment and its initiatives for their empowerment. Accusing Mudragada and other leaders of trying to take advantage of the prevailing unrest, he said that the unrest is on the wane and Kapus are moving closer to the government.
